Official clergy appointments

Retirement

Father Ardel Barta will retire from active ministry after serving as Sacramental Priest at St. Mary Parish in Urbana, St. Mary Parish in Vinton, and Sacred Heart Parish in Walker.

Father Joseph Hauer will retire from active ministry after serving as pastor of Resurrection Parish in Dubuque.

Father John O’Connor will retire from active ministry after serving as Sacramental Priest at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, St. Joseph Parish in Earlville, St. Boniface Parish in New Vienna, SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Petersburg, and St. Paul Parish in Worthington.

Father Joseph Schneider will retire from active ministry after serving as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Manchester, Immaculate Conception Parish in Masonville, and St. Patrick Parish in Ryan.

Sacramental Priest

Father James Brokman will be assigned, in addition to his present duties, as Sacramental Priest at St. Mary Parish in Urbana, St. Mary Parish in Vinton, and Sacred Heart Parish in Walker.

Father Phillip Kruse will be re-assigned as Sacramental Priest at St. Clement Parish in Bankston, St. Patrick Parish in Epworth, St. Joseph Parish in Farley, St. John the Baptist Parish in Peosta, and St. John Parish in Placid, after serving as pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Bellevue, and SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Springbrook.

Pastor

Father Gabriel Anderson will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Manchester, Immaculate Conception Parish in Masonville, and St. Patrick Parish in Ryan, after serving as pastor of St. Columbkille Parish in Dubuque, and St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Dubuque.

Father Alan Dietzenbach will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Marshalltown, after serving as associate pastor of the Cathedral of St. Raphael Parish in Dubuque, and St. Patrick Parish in Dubuque, and as Chaplain at Wahlert High School and Mazzuchelli Middle School in Dubuque.

Father Kevin Earleywine will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Ackley, St. Mary Parish in Eldora, St. Patrick Parish in Hampton, and St. Mark Parish in Iowa Falls, after serving as associate pastor of the same parishes.

Father Phillip Gibbs will be re-assigned as pastor of Resurrection Parish in Dubuque, after serving as pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Decorah.

Father Donald Hertges will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Benedict Parish in Decorah, after serving as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Maquoketa, St. Lawrence Parish in Otter Creek, and St. Joseph Parish in Preston.

Father Jerry Kopacek will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Bernard Parish in Alta Vista, Immaculate Conception Parish in Elma, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Lourdes, St. Peter Parish in New Haven, and Immaculate Conception Parish in Riceville, after serving as Spiritual Director at St. Pius X Seminary in Dubuque.

Father Anthony Kruse will be re-assigned as pastor of Blessed Sacra-ment Parish in Waterloo, after serving as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Ackley, St. Mary Parish in Eldora, St. Patrick Parish in Hampton, and St. Mark Parish in Iowa Falls.

Father Dennis Miller will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Bellevue, and SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Springbrook, and pastoral Coordinator for Bellevue Area Consolidated School and Marquette High School, after serving as Chaplain at Loras College and Clarke University.

Father Mark Murphy will be re-assigned as pastor of St. Jude Parish, Cedar Rapids, after serving as pastor of St. Bernard Parish in Alta Vista, Immaculate Conception Parish in Elma, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Lourdes, St. Peter Parish in New Haven, and Immaculate Conception Parish in Riceville.

Father David Schatz will be assigned, in addition to his present duties, as pastor in solidum with Father Thomas McDermott of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Dubuque and St. Columbkille Parish in Dubuque.

Father Austin Wilker will be re-assigned as pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Maquoketa, St. Lawrence Parish in Otter Creek, and St. Joseph Parish in Preston, after serving as associate pastor of Epiphany Parish in Mason City, and Sacred Heart Parish in Manly.

Pastor – Renewal of Tenure

Father Rick Dagit will have his tenure as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Colo, St. Patrick Parish in Nevada, St. Joseph Parish in State Center, and St. Gabriel Parish in Zearing extended one more year.

Father Jack Flaherty will have his tenure as pastor of All Saints Parish in Cedar Rapids extended for a second six-year term.

Father Neil Manternach will have his tenure as pastor of Epiphany Parish in Mason City, and Sacred Heart Parish in Manly extended for a second six-year term.

Father Michael Mescher will have his tenure as pastor of St. Michael Parish in Belle Plaine, St. Joseph Parish in Chelsea, and St. Patrick Parish in Tama extended one more year.

Father David O’Connor will have his tenure as pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Marion extended for a second six-year term.

Father Mark Ressler will have his tenure as pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Hiawatha extended for a second six-year term.

Father Michael Schueller will have his tenure as pastor of St. Clement Parish in Bankston, St. Patrick Parish in Epworth, St. Joseph Parish in Farley, St. John the Baptist Parish in Peosta, and St. John Parish in Placid extended for a second six-year term.

Father Craig Steimel will have his tenure as pastor of St. John Parish in Blairstown, St. Paul Parish in Newhall, St. Michael Parish in Norway, Immaculate Conception Parish in Van Horne, and St. Patrick Parish in Watkins extended for a second six-year term.

Associate Pastor

Father Ralph Davis will be re-assigned as associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, St. Joseph Parish in Earlville, St. Boniface Parish in New Vienna, SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Petersburg, and St. Paul Parish in Worthington, after serving as associate pastor at St. Columbkille Parish in Dubuque and St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Dubuque.

Father Paul Atta Nsiah from the Diocese of Konongo Mampong in Ghana, will be assigned as associate pastor at St. Columbkille Parish in Dubuque and St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Dubuque.

Special Assignment

Father Greg Bahl will be re-assigned as Director of the -Archdiocesan Office of Worship, and as associate pastor of the Cathedral of St. -Raphael Parish in Dubuque, and St. Patrick Parish in Dubuque, after serving as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Marshalltown.

Father Andrew Marr will be re-assigned as Chaplain at Loras College and Clarke University, after serving as associate pastor of Resurrection Parish in Dubuque.

Father Thomas McDermott will be re-assigned as Spiritual -Director at St. Pius X Seminary in Dubuque, with residence at the Vianney House, and as pastor in solidum (and Moderator) with Father David Schatz at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Dubuque and St. Columbkille Parish in Dubuque, after serving as pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Waterloo.

Monsignor James Miller has been relieved, at his request, from the position of Vicar for Hispanic Ministry.

Father Ivan Nienhaus will be assigned, in addition to his other duties, as pastoral coordinator of Holy Family Consolidated School in Cedar Rapids, effective immediately.

Father Steven Rosonke will be assigned, in addition to his -other duties, as pastoral coordinator of Holy Family Catholic Schools in Dubuque.
